AN ORDINANCE providing for the annexation by the City of Yakima of
certain property contiguous to the City of Yakima, and
zoning the same as R-1, Single Family Residential Zone.
WHEREAS, proceedings have been had in accordance with Chapter128
of the Laws of 1945, as amended, and Chapter 282 of the Laws of 1961
0 for the annexation of the property hereinafter described, and
WHEREAS, at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Com-
mission of the City of Yakima, a hearing was had pursuant to legal
notice, upon the zoning and land use classification of said property
hereinafter described and annexed, and
.,- WHEREAS, said Planning Commission duly recommended that said
property be annexed to the City of Yakima and that all of said prop-
erty be zoned at the time of such annexation as R-1, Single Family
Residential Zone, and
WHEREAS, said proposed area to be annexed to the City of Yakima
is more than 10 acres in area, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that it
would approve the proposed annexation and that it would not require
the property owners of such area to assume the existing indebtedness
of the City of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, .in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 282, Laws
of 1961, pursuant to due and legal notice as required by law, the
Mayor of the City of Yakima, the Chairman of the Board of Yakima
County Commissioners, the Chairman of the School Board of Yakima
School District No. 7, the Representative of the State Department of
Commerce and Economic Development, and a Resident and Property Owner
of the area proposed to be annexed, the same constituting the Review
Board, met at a public hearing and considered all of the factors set
forth in said. Chapter 282, Laws of 1961, and at the conclusion of
said meeting made and entered their findings and determinations with
4p respect to such annexation and recommended to the City Council of the
City of Yakima that said proposed area be annexed to the City of
Yakima, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to due and legal notice as provided by law and
City Charter, a public hearing was had upon said petition for annexa-
tion before the City Council of the City of Yakima on the 8th day of
October, 1962, and

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such property should be
annexed to the City of Yakima and further finds that the recommenda-
tion of the Planning Commission for the zoning and land use classifi-
cation of said property should be approved for the reasons that such
zoning and classification is in accord with good planning and with
the Comprehensive Plan of the City of Yakima, that the majority of
410 the property owners in the vicinity, are in favor of the zoning
classification and the annexation, that the needs of the City and
community do require the hereinafter set forth zoning classifications
and that the highest and best use for said property is as hereinafter
determined, now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That the following described property contiguous to
the City of Yakima, Washington, to-wit:
Beginning at the Southwest corner of the Southeast Quarter
of the Northwest Quarter of Section 15, Township 13 North,
Range 18, E.V.M.; thence East along the South line of said
subdivision to the Westerly right-of-way line of the Yakima
Valley Canal Co.; thence Northeasterly and Northerly along
the Westerly right-of-way line of Canal to the North line
of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest_ Quarter of Sec-
tion 15, Township 13 North, Range 18, E.W.M..; thence West
• along said North line a distance of 118.55 feet, more or
less, to the West line of the East Half of the West Half
of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest_Quarter of Sec-
tion 15, Township 13 North, Range 18, E.W.M.; thence South
along said West line to a point 612.22 feet North of the
South line of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter
of Section 15, Township 13 North, Range 18, E.W.M.; thence
West on a bearing South 89 West to the Easterly right-
of-way line of the Tieton Irrigation District Canal; thence
South and Southwesterly along said Canal right-of-way to the
West line of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter
of Section 15, Township 13 North, Range 18, E.W.M.; thence
South along said West line to the Southwest corner of the
Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 15,
Township 13 North, Range 18, E.W.M., which is the point of
beginning;
is hereby annexed to the City of Yakima, Washington.
Section 2. That the owners of the hereinbefore described real
property annexed to the City_of Yakima shall not be required to
assume existing indebtednesses of the City of Yakima.
• Section 3. That in accordance with the recommendations of the
Planning Commission of the City of Yakima, said property is hereby
zoned as R-1, Single Family Residential Zone.
Section 4. That the next regularly amended Use District Map
prepared by and for the City of Yakima shall show said property as
hereinbefore zoned and classified.

Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
file a certified copy of this ordinance with the County Auditor of
Yakima County and the Board of County Commissioners of Yakima County.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30
days after its final passage, approval and publication, as provided
41 by law and by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 8th day of
October, 1962.
