ORDINANCE MO.
AN ORDINANCE adopting a budget for the City of Yakima, Washington, .for
the year of 1964, appropriating funds for the estimated
expenditures, and fixing-and levying the amount of taxes
necessary to balance the estimated revenue with the esti-
.
mated expenditures.
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of September, 1963, the Mayor and the
City Council of the City of Yakima approved by resolution the Preliminary
Budget of the City for the ensuing year and filed the same with the City
Clerk, in which budget estimates were made of the amount required to
meet the public expenses of the City and the expenditures contemplated
by it for the ensuing year for Salaries and Wages,' for Maintenance and
Operation, for Capital or Betterment and for Interest and Debt Redemption,
and the estimated receipts of the City for the ensuing year from sources
other than direct taxation, and the amount required and proposed to be
raised by taxation upon the real and personal property situated withiH
the corporate limits of the City of Yakima, Washington, and
WHEREAS, it appears from the budget that, the. sum of $4,422,726.00
is required by the City for the payment of its expenditures for the
ensuing year, and
WHEREAS, it also appears from the said estimates made that the
receipts and sUrplus of the City for the ensuing year from , sources
other than direct taxation have been estimated at the sum of
$3,6139584.00, and
WHEREAS, the sum of U,032,382.00 is not in excess of the amount
authoried by law to be raised by taxation upon the taxable real an
personal property within the corporate limits of the City, now,
0 therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. The Budget of the City of Yakima, Washington, for the
year of 1964, as approved on the 10th day of October, 1963, after due
notice Of hearing and after the Preliminary Budget had been filed with
the City Clerk as required by law, is hereby adopted in the aggregate
amount of $4,422,726.00.
Section 2. From estimated revenues, including available surplus,
revenues from taxation and revenues from all other sources, the fol-
lowing amounts are hereby appropriated for expenditures in each of the
f011owing classifications during the budget year 1964:
Salaries and Wages $2,125,772.00
Maintenance and Operation 1,533,223.00
Capital or Betterment 558,672.00
Interest and Debt Redemption 2059.O0

Section 3. There is hereby appropriated and fixed to be raised by
general property taxes upon the real and personal property within the
III City of Yakima the amount of $1,032,382.00 which amount, when added to the
estimated available revenues from all other sources and surplus, will
more than balance the estimated revenues with the 4timated expenditures.
Section 4. There is hereby levied upon all of the taxable prop-
erty, both real and personal, within the City of Yakima, Washington,
a total tax of Twenty 20.0) mills on each and every dollar of assessed
valuation of such property to provide ta,x revenues for the following
purposes:

Section 5. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified
copy of the Budget hereby adopted to the office of the County CoMmis-
sionerS of Yakima County, Washington.
Section 6. This ordinance is one required to be made by the laws
of the State of Washington and shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication by title as provided
by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this lOth day of
