AN ORDINANCE providing for the annexation by the City of Yakima of
certain property contiguous to the City of Yakima and
zoning said property.
WHEREAS, proceedings have been held in accordance with Chapter 128
of the Laws of 1945, as amended, and Chapter 282 of the Laws of 1961
for the annexation of the property hereinafter described, and
WHEREAS, at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commis-
sion of the City of Yakima, a hearing was held pursuant to legal
notice, upon the zoning and land use classification of said property
hereinafter described and annexed, and
WHEREAS, said Planning Commission duly recommended that said
property be annexed to the City of Yakima and made recommendations as
to the zoning for said property, and
WHEREAS, said proposed area to be annexed to the City of Yakima
is more than 10 acres in area, and
WHEREAS,. the City Council has heretofore determined that it would
41, approve the proposed annexation and that it would require the property
owners of such area to assume the existing indebtedness of the City of
Yakima, and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 282, Laws
of 1961, a majority of the review board comprised of the Mayor of the
City of Yakima, the Chairman of the Board of Yakima County Commission-
ers, the Chairman of the School Board of Yakima School District No. 7,
the Representative of the State Department of Commerce and Economic
Development, and a Resident and Property Owner of the area proposed
to be annexed, me and considered all of the factors set forth in said
Chapter 282, Laws of 1961, and at the conclusion of said meeting made
411 and entered their unanimous findings and determinations with respect
to such annexation and recommended to the City Council of the City of
Yakima that said proposed area be annexed to the City of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to due and legal notice as provided by law and
by the City Charter, a public hearing was held upon said petition for

annexation before the City Council of the City of Yakima on November
25, 1963, which hearing was postponed and continued until December 9,
1963, for the purpose of allowing a reconsideration by the Planning
Commission of its recommendation for zoning the property proposed
for annexation, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission now recommends, as a result of
• such reconsideration, that the property proposed for annexation be
zoned as hereinafter set forth, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such property should be
annexed to the City of Yakima and further finds that the property
should be zoned as hereinafter set forth for the reasons that such
zoning and classification is in accord with good planning and with
the Comprehensive Plan of the City of Yakima, that the majority, of
the property owners in the vicinity do not oppose the classification
or the annexation, that the needs of the City and community do require
the hereinafter set forth zoning classifications, and that the highest
and best use for said property is as hereinafter determined, now,
• therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That the following described property contiguous to
the City of Yakima, Washington, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of
East Mead Avenue and F a i r Avenue; thence West along s a i d
center line to a point 485 feet East of the center line of
South First Street; thence South 450 feet; thence West
to the center line of South First Street; thence South
along the center line of South First Street to the South
line of the NE4 NE4, Section 31, Township 13 North, Range
19, E.W.M.; thence West to the Westerly R/W line of
Primary State Highway No. 3, also known as South First
Street; thence South along the Westerly R/W line of
Primary State Highway No. 3 to the South line of the SW4
NW4 Section 32, Township 13 North, Range 19, E.W.M.;
thence East along the South line of said subdivision to
a point 772.6 feet West of the Southeast corner of said
• subdivision; thence North and parallel with the East line
of the SW4p NW4 Section 32, Township 13 North, Range 19,
E.W.M., 336 feet; thence East and parallel with the South
line of said subdivision 291.76 feet; thence North and
parallel with the East line of the SW4 NW *, Section 32,
Township 13, North, Range 19, E.W.ivl., to the North line of
said subdivision; thence West along said North line to
the West line of Section 32, Township 13 North, Range 19,
E.W.M.; thence North along said West line to the center
line of East Mead Avenue which is the point of beginning;
is hereby annexed to the City of Yakima, Washington.

Section 2. That the owners of the hereinbefore described real
property annexed to the City of Yakima sha l I be required to assume
existing indebtedness of the City of Yakima.
Section 3. The hereinbefore described real property annexed to
the City of Yakima is hereby zoned as follows:
• (a) The following escribed
g property is hereby zoned as B -3,
General Business Zone:
Beginning at the NE corner of the SE* of the NE4 of
Section 31, Township 13, N., Range 19, E.W.M., thence
West 450 feet more or less to the Westerly R/W line of
Primary State Highway No. 3, also known as South First
Street; thence Southeasterly along the Westerly R/W
line of Primary State Highway No. 3 to the South line
of the SW4, NW4, Section 32, Township 13, N., Range 19,
E.W.M.; thence East along the South line of said sub-
division to a point 772.6 feet West of the SE corner of
said subdivision; thence North and parallel with the
East line of the SW4, NW4, Section 32, Township 13, N.,
Range 19, E.W.M. 336 feet; thence East and parallel
with the south line of said subdivision 291.76 feet;
thence North and parallel with the East line of the
SW4, NW4, Section 32, Township 13, N., Range 19, E.W.M.,
to the North line of said subdivision; thence West
along said North line to the West line of Section 32,
Township 13, N., Range 19, E.W.M., the point of beginning.

(b) The following described property is hereby zoned as M -I,
Light Industrial Zone:
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of
East Mead Avenue and Fair Avenue, which is the N.E. corner
of Section 31, Township 13, North, Range 19, E.W.M., thence
West along the center line of Mead Avenue to a point 132.1 ft.
West of the NE corner of W2, NE4, NE4, NE4 of said Section
31; thence South 449.9 feet; thence West to the center line
of South First Street; thence Southeasterly along the center
line of South First Street to the South line of the NE*, NE4,
Section 31, Township 13, North Range 19, E.W.M.; thence East
375 feet more or less to the East line of Section 31, Town-
ship' 13, North, Range 19, E.W.M.; thence North along said
East line to the center line of East Mead Avenue which is
the point of beginning.
Section_4. That the next regularly amended Use District Map pre-
pared by and for the City of Yakima shall show said property as here -
inbefore zoned and classified.
Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
file a certified copy of this ordinance with the County Auditor of
Yakima County and with the Board of County Commissioners of Yakima
County, Washington.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30

days after its final passage, approval and publication as provided by
law and by the City Charter.
