HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-500 ORDINANCE NO. _0 AN ORDINANCE relating to stopping, standing and parking motor vehicles; authorizing the issuance of notices for violations; de- claring a misdemeanor for failure to comply with such notices; adding Sections 9.36.311 and 9.36.312 as new sections to the City of Yakima Municipal Code; and declaring an emergency. 41/ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Sectionl. There is hereby created a new section to the City of ,) Yakima Municipal Code, to follow Section 9.36.310, which shall read as follows: "9.36.31 1 NOTICE FOR IMPROPERLY PARKED VEHICLES. Whenever any motor vehicle without an operator is found parked or angle parked in violation of any of the parking restrictions of this code, the officer finding it shall take its license number and any other information displayed on the vehicle which may identify its user, and affix con- spicuously to such vehicle a notice in writing for the owner or operator to answer to the charge against him within five days, at a place specified in the notice. The officer shall file one copy of such notice with the Chief of Police or other officer of the City charged with the enforcement of this code." II/ Section 2. There is hereby created a new section to the City of Yakima Municipal Code, to follow Section 9.36.311, which shall read as follows: "9.36.312 REFUSAL TO ANSWER PARKING NOTICE---VIOLATION. Any person who wilfully neglects to answer the charges set forth in a notice affixed, in accordance with Section 9.36.311, to the motor vehicle which he owns or operates, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, regardless of the dis- position of the charge for which the notice was originally issued." Section 3. This Ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency Is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in Full force and effect immediate ly upon its passage, apprnval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
