AN ORDINANCE relating to building regulations; adopting by reference
the Uniform Building Code, 1961 Edition, copyright 1961
by the International Conference of Building Officials,
regulating the erection, construction, enlargement,
alteration,r"epair, moving, removal, conversion, demoli-
tion, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area and main-
tenance of buildings or structures in the City of Yakima;
providing for the issuance of permits and collection
fees therefor; providing penalties for the violation
thereof; amending Sections 11.04.010, .020 and .030 and
repealing Sections 11.04.040, .050, :060,.070, .080,
.090 and .100 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code;
and declaring an emergency.
WHEREAS, R. C. W. 35.21.180 authorizes cities and towns within
the State of Washington to pass ordinances adopting by reference
compilations and codes relating to the construction of buildings, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima has heretofore
examined and understands the scope and purpose of the regulations of
the Uniform Building Code, 1961 Edition, copyright 1961 by the Inter-
national Conference of Building Officials, and deems it in the best
interests of the city that such Uniform Building Code be adopted as
the law of the City of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, three copies of such Uniform B u i l d i n g Code have hereto-
fore been filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Yak inia
for use and examination by the public, as required by law, now,
therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That Section 11.04.010 of the City of Yakima Munici-
pal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"11.04.010. ADOPTION OF UNIFORM BUILDING CODE. The
Uniform Building Code, 1961 Edition, copyright 1961 by the
International Conference of B u i l d i n g O f f i c i a l s , consisting
of Volumes 1 and 111 thereof of which not Tess than three
• copies each have been and now are on file in the office of
the City Clerk of the City of Yakima, is hereby adopted and
incorporated as fully as if set out in full herein, as the
building code of the City of Yakima, except as hereinafter
amended, and the provisions and regulations thereof are
hereby adopted as the provisions and regulations of the City
of Yakima; and the several sections or numbers thereon shall
constitute, and may be referred to as, the numbers of this
Chapter,"
Section 2. That Section 11.04.020 of the City of Yakima Munici-
pal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"11.04.020 ADOPTION OF APPENDIX TO CODE. The Appendix
of the Uniform Building Code, 1961 Edition, copyright 1961
by the International Conference of Building Officials, con-
sisting of Pages 373 to 408 inclusive of Volume I thereof,
is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out in
full herein, as a part of the building code of the City of
Yakima, and the provisions and regulations thereof are hereby
adopted as the provisions and regulations of the City of Yakima;
• and the several sections or numbers thereon shall constitute,
and may be referred to as the numbers of this Chapter."
Section 3. That Section 11.04.030 of the City of Yakima Munici-
pal Code Is hereby amended to read as follows:
"11.04.030 AMENDMENT TO SECTION 2305 OF UNIFORM BUILDING
CODE. Section 2305 of the Uniform Building Code, as applied
to the City of Yakima, is hereby amended so that Table No.
23-B -- Roof Live Loads -- PouHds Per Square Foot shall read
as follows:
'TABLE NO. 23-B--ROOF LIVE LOADS--POUNDS PER SQUARE FOOT'

'Where snow loads occur, the roof structure shall be designed
for such loads as determined by the Building Official."
Section 4. That Sections 11.04.040, .050, .060, .070, .080,
.0 and .100 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code are hereby re-
pealed.
Section 5. This Ordinance is one to provide for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and wel-
fare of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency Is hereby
declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
Immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided

by law and by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 23rd day of
