AN ORDINANCE relating to retirement from the Yakima Police Department;
authorizing the recovery, retention, preservation and
accumulation of service credits toward such retirement;
and adding Section 1.57.020 as new section of the City
of Yakima Municipal Code.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section_ 1.- There is hereby added a new section, .to follow Sec-
tion 1.57.010, to be numbered 1.57.020, to the City of Yakima Municipal
Code, and to read as follows:
"1.57.020 RETENTION AND ACCUMULATION OF SERVICE
CREDITS TOWARD RETIREMENT. Any member of the Fire Depart-
ment of the City of Yakima who has heretofore or who may
hereafter transfer his employment to the Police Department
of the City of Yakima may preserve, accumulate and retain
service credit for his service in the Fire Department, and
may apply such credit toward his eventual retirement from
the Police Department, subject to any reasonable rules and
regulations which may be adopted by the Police Pension Board
in furtherance of, and consistent with, applicable state laws.
Any person who has heretofore honorably served in any
capacity as an employee of the Yakima Police Department
shall be allowed credit for such service toward retirement
from the Police Department, subject to any reasonable rules
and regulations which may be adopted by the Police Pension
Board in furtherance of, and consistent with, applicable
state laws."
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thir-
ty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided by
law and by the City Charter.
