SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
This resolution allows the City Manager to sign agreements with three local nonprofits: OIC of
Washington, Boys and Girls Club of the Yakama Nation, and 509 Boxing Gym, to provide services for
low-income youth and children in Yakima. The City Council set aside $150,000 in Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG)funds for Public Services in the 2025 Annual Action Plan. After a
public application process, these organizations ranked highest based on their proposals and experience
serving young people.
The resolution authorizes funding in the following amounts: $75,000 for OIC, $50,000 for the Boys and
Girls Club of the Yakama Nation, and $25,000 for 509 Boxing Gym. These programs meet federal CDBG
requirements and will help support underserved youth through education, mentorship, and positive
activities. Approving the resolution will allow the City to move forward with contracts and ensure these
services are delivered in the community.
