RESOLUTION NO. R-2026-132
authorizing a Vehicle Grant Agreement with the Washington State
Department of Transportation (WSDOT) for $434,080 to assist Yakima
Transit in purchasing four new Paratransit vehicles.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima Transit Division was granted a total of $434,080 from the
State Transit Support Grant Program; and,
WHEREAS, the paratransit vehicles being replaced have reached the end of their useful
life cycle and create safety and operational issues for riders and operators; and,
WHEREAS, the Washington. State Department of Transportation opened a grant funding
opportunity under the State Transit Support Grant program; and
WHEREAS, Yakima Transit applied for funding on April 8, 2026, and was awarded
funding on July 1, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best interest of the City of Yakima and
residents to accept $434,080 in grant funds from the Washington State Department of
Transportation and authorizes the City Manager to enter into an agreement setting forth the
terms, conditions, and requirements for allocating this funding, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into Grant Agreement PTD1333 with the
Washington State Department of Transportation to assist in purchasing four paratransit
vehicles; is authorized to accept said grant funds to be applied to the purposes specified above
and is further authorized to complete any other forms necessary to procure the grant funding.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) through the State Transit Support
Vehicle Grant program, has awarded Yakima Transit grant funding in the amount of $434,080 to be used
to purchase four new Paratransit vehicles. The grant funding does not require a local match. In order to
receive the funding, it is necessary for the City of Yakima to execute Grant Agreement PTD1333 with
WSDOT which has been attached for City Council review.
