R-2026-127 A RESOLUTION authorizing a Memorandum of Understanding with Seattle Police Department to support City of Yakima's Task Force work on Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC). WHEREAS the Seattle Police Department is the Lead Agency for Washington State's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force; and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima, is a member of the ICAC Task Force and requires funding to support its investigation and prosecution of ICAC crimes; and WHEREAS, the Seattle Police Department receives funding to support investigation and prosecution of ICAC crimes and wishes to share this funding with Task Force Members to further the mission of the Task Force; and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima wishes to continue work as part of the Task Force and accept funding to continue to support investigations and prosecutions relevant to ICAC crimes; and WHEREAS, the Seattle Police Department is able to provide up to $8,500 to the Yakima Police Department to cover overtime, travel/training, equipment, and software necessary for ICAC investigations in the City of Yakima via the Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Grant; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima finds that it is in the best interests of the City and its residents to enter into the proposed MOU and accept funding as outlined therein, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the Memorandum of Understanding, attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference, regarding funding and operation of the ICAC Task Force. The funding comes via federal funding from the Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Grant.
