Yakima City Fire assisted Selah, Yakima Training Center, East Valley, West Valley, Naches, and Gleed with brush or structure fires in a mutual aid capacity. • The Technical Rescue Team assisted Granger with a confined space rescue and Naches with a water rescue after a vehicle went into the river. ��- . Overnight Brush truck deployment to Benton a$' 4-.r Countyto assist with a wildland fire. : 49 SECOND QUARTER SIGNIFICANT ■ Collaborated with Walla Walla and Pendleton for annual TRAINING training and IFSAC ARFF Certification. V r_ 4, dII LY v I 50 PERSONNEL CHANGES Promotions • Mike Wagner was promoted to Shift Commander. Retirements • Chief Markham retired after 34 years and 9 months of service between City of Sunnyside and City of Yakima Fire Departments. • Deputy Chief Hutsell retired after 2 years of service to the Yakima Fire Department. • Lt. Brent Bauer retired with 30 years and 5 months of service. • Lt. Larry Bird retired with 30 years of service between City of Union Gap and City of Yakima Fire Departments. • FF Joanna Albrecht retired with 34 years of service. • FF Kory Simmons retired with 32 years and 7 months of service. • FF Dan Jenson retired with 32 years and 1 month of service. Resignations • Erica McNamara, Suncomm's Division Manager of almost five years, went to work for City of Spokane. 51 COMMUNITY RISK REDUCTION EVENTS 7 School Fire Prevention Visits 8 Rides to School in a Fire Engine 8 End of the Year Water Shows 7 Special Events 6 Station Tours 5 Presentations 7 Smoke Detector Installs 52 INSPECTIONS Commercial Business Inspections/ 248 Compliance Re-Inspections 28 Site Visits 717 Third Party reports 4 Rehab Calls 1 Special Event Inspections 53 4TH OF JULY UPDATE • Suncomm's call volume doubled. • Fire upstaffed one crew of three and one Shift Commander (Total of 6 Engine companies, 1 Ladder Truck company, 2 Shift Commanders and 1 DC during afternoon-evening peak hours). • Sent mutual or automatic aid three separate times (we were only able to send one crew and one Shift Commander at a time in order to maintain coverage adequate for calls within the city's response area. 1. West Valley for a large brush and structure fire. 2. Later West Valley had an additional structure fire (this was technically automatic aid). 3.
