HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-04-2026 Nominating Committee MinutesCOUNCIL NOMINATING COMMITTEE MINUTES City Manager's Conference Room Thursday June 4, 2026 The meeting convened at 4:00 p.m. Council present: Reedy Berg (via speakerphone), Felisa Gonzalez, and Leo Roy Staff present: City Clerk Rosalinda Ibarra and Planning Manager Trevor Martin Councilmember Leo Roy was selected as Chair of this meeting. 1. The Council Nominating Committee reviewed applications and made the following recommendations: MOTION: Gonzalez moved and Berg seconded to recommend Colleda Monick for reappointment to the Yakima Planning Commission (YPC). The motion carried unanimously. MOTION: Roy moved and Berg seconded to recommend Dr. Tanya Knickerbocker, Eduardo Davila Verdin, and James Conright for appointment to the Yakima Planning Commission (YPC). The motion carried unanimously. MOTION: Roy moved and Berg seconded to recommend Kimberly Ruck (Symphony Orchestra representative) and Vance Jennings (dramatic arts representative) for reappointment to the Arts Commission. The motion carried unanimously. MOTION: Berg moved and Roy seconded to recommend Carlos Fernandez for appointment to the Henry Beauchamp Jr. Community Center Advisory Board (HBCC). The motion carried unanimously. MOTION: Berg moved and Roy seconded to recommend Margaret Luera for reappointment to the Public Facilities District (PFD). The motion carried unanimously. At this time the Nominating Committee chose not to make a recommendation for the existing Community Representative position on the Arts Commission pending possible amendments to the commission's membership structure. The Nominating Committee also agreed to solicit additional applications for the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) and therefore did not make a recommendation for the upcoming vacancy position. Staff will coordinate with the Community Relations team to issue a press release seeking interested community members to apply for any vacant board and commission position. 2.
