A RESOLUTION amending the Master Fee Schedule to incorporate the increase in rates
for the Wastewater Division.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima (City) wishes to amend the Wastewater rates within the
Master Fee Schedule to account for City Council approving a utility tax increase on the
Wastewater Division to fund Fire Station 92; and
WHEREAS, the increase in Wastewater rates would be specifically to each ready -to -
serve charge on a bi-monthly billing period in the amount of 8.4% for 2026 and 3.0% each year
for 2027-2029; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines it is in the best interest of the City of
Yakima and its residents to amend the Master Fee Schedule to increase the Wastewater rates
each year for the years 2026-2029; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. The rates for Wastewater service as authorized by YMC 7.60, are hereby amended
as follows, and shall be reflected as such in the City of Yakima Master Fee Schedule.

Wastewater service charge for Outside -City customers shall be 1.5 x the Inside City Rate
Section 2. All other sections and provisions of the Master Fee Schedule shall remain
unchanged and fully enforceable as written. Nothing in this resolution changes, amends, or
modifies any other section or portion of the Master Fee Schedule other than as set forth in
Section 1.
Section 3. This Resolution will take effect immediately upon passage.

ITEM TITLE:
Resolution amending the Master Fee Schedule to incorporate the
increase in rates for the Wastewater Division

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City of Yakima (City) wishes to amend the Wastewater rates within the Master Fee Schedule to
account for the City Council approving a 3% utility tax increase on the Wastewater Division to fund Fire
Station 92. The increase in Wastewater rates would be specifically to each ready -to -serve charge on a
bi-monthly billing period in the amount of 8.4% for 2026 and 3.0% for each year for 2027 - 2029;
generating approximately $775,000 per year.
The rate increase is being applied directly to the ready -to -serve charge to guarantee the funding amount
needed to cover the 3% increase in utility tax to the General Fund. The ready -to -serve charge is a
constant amount and is independent of frequency of use and/or volume.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 24-25: A Safe and Healthy Yakima
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution.
