A RESOLUTION authorizing application for grants from the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) for construction of Terminal Core and Rental Car Counter
Modernization, a capital improvement project at the Yakima Air Terminal -
McAllister Field.
WHEREAS, the City owns and operates the Yakima Air Terminal -McAllister Field in
accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations; and
WHEREAS, the FAA makes grants available to airports to maintain and improve airport
facilities; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Yakima Air Terminal -McAllister Field Airport Master
Plan, which details a variety of Federal Aviation Administration required capital improvement
projects, including the construction of Terminal Core and Rental Car Counter Modernization; and,
WHEREAS, the grant applications will request a total of approximately one million and
nine -hundred and ninety-four thousand and seven hundred ($1,994,700) dollars in grant funding
for said projects of which the FAA grant will provide up to 95% of the funds; and the airport will
match the remaining 5% through SIED funding; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City and its residents
to authorize submission of grant applications to the FAA for grant funds needed to accomplish
the identified capital improvements, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to submit the grant applications referenced herein
to the FAA for the construction of Terminal Core and Rental Car Counter Modernization.

ITEM TITLE: Resolution authorizing the application of a federal grant for Airport
Terminal Ticketing Counter (Part 1) (FAA Grants/SIED Funds)

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application to the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) to fund the modernization of the terminal. This project focuses on the ticketing
counter and baggage handling. Project cost is estimated at $1,994,700. The grant application amount is
less as certain parts of the project are ineligible for FAA funds, these costs, as well as the match, will be
paid by SIED funds.

RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution.
