For Meeting of: May 12, 2026 ITEM TITLE: Mental Health Awareness Month proclamation SUBMITTED BY: Vicki Baker, City Manager SUMMARY EXPLANATION: At the April 21, 2026 City Council meeting, there was a motion to add a Mental Health Awareness Month proclamation to the May 12th agenda. The motion passed unanimously. Attached for Council consideration is the proclamation. If approved, the proclamation will be read and presented to Angela Bazan. ITEM BUDGETED: N/A STRATEGIC PRIORITY 24-25: RECOMMENDATION: Approve the proclamation and request that it be read and presented. Through these efforts, we can provide hope and support for those struggling, eliminate archaic stigmas, and make our nation a more empathetic and resilient place. Andfurthermore, I encourage all to support the millions dealing with mental health challenges through simple actions like checking on Coved ones, learning warning signs,promoting mental health services, and taking steps to safeguard personal-mental healthand wellness. By promoting awareness, access to care, and opportunities for recovery, we can ensure a brighter future for all Americans facing mental health challenges.
