AN ORDINANCE amending Section 4 of Ordinance No. B -933 entitled "AN ORDINANCE relating to the organization, manage- ment and operation of the Fire Department of the City of Yakima, Washington, prescribing hours of labor and fixing allowance for vacations." BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8--933 be amended to read as follows: Section 4. All firemen regularly employed as such shall be granted time off privileges as follows: VACATION LEAVE (a) After one year's service each member of the Fire Department shall be eligible to five days of vacation leave per • year with pay. The term day where ever used in regard to firemen shall mean one twenty -four hour working day as the same is used with respect to the employees of the Fire Department; it being understood that all firemen work for a period of twenty -four hours and are then off for a period of fortyr -eitht hours. (b) After ten years of continuous service, each member of the sire Department shall be eligible to seven days vacation leave with pay for each year worked. (e) Vacation leave shall accrue from the date of employ- ment but shall not be available'until the completion of one year 1 111 of service. Unused vacation leave may accrue to a maximum of twelve working days. The same regulations shall apply to the . scheduling and granting of vacation leave as established in . Section 1 - VACATION LEAVE (d) of Ordinance No for • other city employees insofar as the same are applicable. • SICK LItVE (a) Each member of the Fire Department shall be entitled to one-half day per month sick leave with pay, which sick leave may be accumulated to a maximum of thirty days. • The same general rules and regulations shall apply to the Firemen as set forth in Section 1 - SICK LEAVE of Ordinance No4 for the other city employees HOLIDAYS n*.exeamoos.MC• (a) Each member of the Fire Department shall be entitled to a mirlimum of two days off with pay per year in lieu of holi- days. Such time off with pay in lieu of holidays shall be scheduled so as to meet the operating requirements of the Fire Department and in so far as the same may be practicable, the preference of the members. DAY MEN (a) All *members of the Fire Department working straight day shifts and alarm operators shall be entitled to vacation leave, sick leave and holiday time off which shall be computed on the same basis as for the other employees in the City working on a forty-hour week basis. . . - 2 - Section 2„ All other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after its passage, approval and publi- cation as Provided by law and the City Charter.
