CITY OF YAKIMA
OFFICE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
129 North Second Street J Yakima, Washington 98901
(509) 575-6050 I www.yakimawa.gov
March 12, 2026
To Whom It May Concern:
Yakima is open for business. That is not a slogan. It is a commitment from a City
Council that believes in free markets, low barriers, and getting out of the way so you can
build something. We are here to serve you, not slow you down.
Economic growth is a top priority for this Council. We are streamlining permits, cutting
red tape, and making sure city government works for you, not against you. We know
that when businesses thrive, families thrive. Jobs are created, neighborhoods improve,
and our city gets stronger. That is the kind of growth we are after.
Yakima has world -class agriculture, a skilled and growing workforce, and a quality of life
that is hard to beat. We sit at the center of the Pacific Northwest with room to grow and
a community that welcomes the people willing to invest in it. We are actively recruiting
businesses across every sector, and we are serious about it.
That commitment extends to the businesses already here. The companies and
entrepreneurs who have invested in Yakima are the backbone of our economy, and this
Council is just as committed to helping you grow as we are to attracting anyone new. We
are a pro -business Council, full stop. That means everyone who has a stake in this city's
success.
As taxes and costs keep climbing on the west side of Washington State, Yakima is the
alternative. We want you here. We want to see you succeed, because when you succeed,
our community succeeds. This Council is determined to grow new businesses in Yakima,
and we mean it. Come build with us.
Sincerely,
Yakima City Council
