I 111 AN ORDINANCE relating to the municipal water supply, authorizing fluoridation thereof, declaring the estimated cost and p"roviding for payment by water users, all subject to referendum at the municipal general election of March 8 1960, prescribing a ballot title and declaring an emergency. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima has been petitioned by various groups of citizens to the end that a source of fluoridation be added to the water supply of the City of Yakima, and WHEREAS, the said City Council believes it to be in the best interests of the people to submit the question of fluoridation of said water supply to the qualified electors of the City of Yakima at the general municipal election of March 8, 1960 for the ratification or rejection, now, therefore, BE IT 09DAINED BY THE CITY OP YAKIMA: Section 1. That a source of fluoridation approved by the State Department of Health shall be added to the Yakima water supply under the rules and regulations of said department, such addition to be administered by the Water Department. Section 2. That the estimated original cot of the instal- lation required for such fluoridation is the cum of 25,000, and there shall be included annually in the budget of the liater Depart- ment an mount necessary to carry on and maintain such fluoridation as contemplated in Section 1 hereof, and the entire cost of such installation and maintenance shall be paid by the water users through such monthly charge as may be necessary, to be collected by the Water Department. • Section 3. That this ordinance shall be submitted to the qualified electors (voters) of the City of Yakima at the • general municipal election of March 8, 1960 for their ratification or rejection and said proposition shall be voted on in the following manner, to-wit: There shall be placed on the ballot a statemen::: of the substance of this ordinance in substantially the following form: "PROPOSITION NO. Shall a source of fluoridation approved by the State Department of Health be added to the water supply of the City of Yakima, the cost to be paid by water users through a monthly charge for each premises served, all as contemplated by Ordinance Pluoridation Yes Fluoridation No Section 4. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health and safety of the people of the City of Yakima, and an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and the City Charter.
