BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
YAKIMA, WASHINGTON
AGENDA STATEMENT
Item No. 7.H.
For Meeting of: March 17, 2026
ITEM TITLE: Ordinance amending the City of Yakima Municipal Code Chapter 1.70
Police Department Service Fees
SUBMITTED BY: Craig Warner, Director of Finance and Budget
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The proposed ordinance eliminates Police Department service fees in Chapter 1.70. These fees are now
part of the Master Fee Schedule. The proposed action is a housekeeping measure.
The City of Yakima consolidates and updates fee provisions by placing them within the Master Fee
Schedule to allow for greater flexibility and annual review by resolution. Ordinance No. 2022-040 initiated
this transition for certain Police Department service fees.
A subsequent review identified residual language in Chapter 1.70 that was not fully removed at that time.
The proposed ordinance completes the intended cleanup effort and prevents confusion regarding the
location and authority of Police Department service fees.
