AM ORDINANCE establishing a longevity pay plan for members of
the Fire Department of the City of Yakima and
prescribing the amounts and conditions for payment
thereof.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OP YAKIMA:
Section 1. That those members of the Fire Department of
the City of Yakima who have been regularly and continuously
employed full time in said department and have completed periods
of oervice as hereinafter set forth, shall receive upon the first
day of July and the first day of January each year commencing
• July 1p 1960 semi.eannual oompensation in addition to their
regular salary, as follows to-wit:
Years Se:evice Semi-annual Compensation
At least 5 year and less
than 10 years; $ 30.00
At least 10 year and loss
60.00
Fiftee:hay:alr: years
90.00
Secion 2. That leave of abeence for service in the armed
forces of the United States shall be regarded as continuous employ-
ment in determindeag eligibility for such compensation, but shall
not entitle such person to receive said compensation for the
lea period.
Section 3. That the annual budget for the City of Yakima
shell coDtain a sufficie:t fund to meet the financial require-
erts of the provisions of this ordinance.
Section 4. The additional semi-annual compensation
provided for herein and commonly termed longevity pay shall
not be considered as part of the basic salary for members
of the Fire Department.
Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective
thirty (30) days after its passage g approval and publication
as provided by law and the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY CO' NCIL, signed and approved this
day of February 1960.
