9.25.020 Cruising permitted—Open cruising event.
A. Cruising shall be permitted by the public during an open cruising
event on Yakima Avenue Saturday evenings designated pursuant to
resolution adopted by the city council from time to time. No special
event permits requiring the closure of Yakima Avenue shall be issued
for events scheduled on dates designated as open cruising events,
and the city council shall not designate an open cruising event on
dates for which a special event permit requiring such closure has
already been issued.

Calls For Service - Cruise Nights
Methodology:
The data was taken from the Calls for Service layer in the Crime Analysis database in GIS. The data was
cleaned to only include 2025 calls and limited to June-September. The data was then cleaned to only include hours of
the day from 5pm-12am. The data was then sorted into Cruise Nights vs Base Line nights. These variables were
created to demonstrate the impact of Cruise nights on YPD's Call volume. The over all average for each
Saturday from 5pm-12am is 67 calls: this changes for Base Line to 59 and for Cruise Nights it is 75.
