RESOLUTION NO. R-2026-021
amending the adopted Six -Year Transportation Improvement Program
(TIP) for the period of 2026 through 2031 and amending the
Transportation Systems Plan 2040.
WHEREAS, on June 17, 2025, the City of Yakima (City) adopted R-2025-103 and
R-2025-104 as required by state statute to update its Six -year Transportation Improvement
Program (TIP) and the Transportation Systems Plan 2040; and
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima desires to amend the adopted Six -Year Transportation
Improvement Program and the Transportation Systems Plan 2040 with the following additional
Projects:
• S. 15Y St Pavement Rehabilitation
• Yakima Ave S. Overlay; and
WHEREAS, after a public hearing on the matter, held at the regular meeting of the
Yakima City Council on February 3, 2026, with proper public notice as required by RCW
35.77.010, the City Council amends the Six -Year Transportation Improvement Program for the
period of 2026 through 2031 and the Transportation Systems Plan 2040; and,
WHEREAS, amending the Six -year Transportation Improvement Program and amending
the Transportation Systems Plan 2040 are in the best interest of the City and its residents; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The amended Six -Year Construction Program for the period of 2026 through 2031, and
Transportation Systems Plan 2040, a copy of which is attached hereto and by this reference
made a part thereof, is hereby adopted and approved.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 3' day of February, 2026.

crack sealing, new pavement markings, and replacement of sidewalks. curb end
gutter and curb ramps, and Illumination. Improvements Include spot pavement repair
areas where pavement has faded in isolated locations.

Public Hearing to consider: A) Resolution adopting the amended Six-
Year Transportation Improvement Program for the period of 2026-
2031, and to amend the Transportation Systems Plan 2040; and B)
Resolution amending the Yakima Urban Area Comprehensive Plan
Capital Facilities Element (No budgetary impact)

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
On June 17, 2025 the City of Yakima adopted R-2025-103 and R-2025-104 as required by state statute
to update its Six -year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for submittal in the Statewide
Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The
City is amending the Six -year TIP to include these additional projects:
• S 1st St Pavement Rehabilitation
• Yakima Ave S. Overlay
A Public Hearing will be held to consider including the additional projects in adoption of an amended
Resolution approving the Six -year TIP and amending the regional Metropolitan Transportation Plan and
Comprehensive Plan Capital Facilities Element.
ITEM BUDGETED: N/A
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 24-25: A Resilient Yakima
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt both resolutions.
