A RESOLUTION authorizing the City of Yakima to accept a private donation in the sum of
One Million Dollars ($100,000,000) for Capitol Theatre.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima (City) owns the Capitol Theatre located at 19 S 3rd St,
Yakima, WA; and
WHEREAS, the Capitol Theatre is managed by the Capitol Theatre Committee (CTC);
and
WHEREAS, the CTC was authorized by City Council on January 20th, 2026 to fund se
for capital improvements to the Capitol Theatre; and
WHEREAS, a private donation of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) from CTC will be
used by the City to assist in the Capitol Theatre Capital Improvement Projects; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima finds that it is in the best interests of
its residents to accept the donation, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the private donation of One Million Dollars
($1,000,000) for use to assist in funding the Capitol Theatre Capital Improvements,
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 3' day of February, 2026.

for the Capitol Theatre (Capitol Theatre Fund)

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Capitol Theatre is in the process of improving the Capitol Theatre located at 19 S 3rd Street. On
January 20, 2026 the Yakima City Council approved the Capitol Theatre Committee (CTC) to fundraise
for the improvements. The City of Yakima received a private donation of $1,000,000 from the Capitol
Theatre Committee for the improvements.

RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution.
