ITEM TITLE: Resolution authorizing acceptance of an offer for purchase of real
estate located at 1606 W. King Street
SUBMITTED BY: Bronson Faul, Senior Assistant City Attorney
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City of Yakima initiated a real property drug forfeiture of 1606 W. King St. in 2013, following a
trial the court awarded the property to the City. Law enforcement is unable to use the real
property for the exclusive use of enforcing the provisions of RCW Chapter 69. After preparing the
real property for sale, the City hired a licensed real estate firm to market, show and advertise the
real property. The City has received an offer for the real property and taking into account the
condition of the real property, constitutes the full value of the real property. After all expenses and
costs, the City should expect to net approximately $70,000 from the sale and those proceeds
shall be retained by the seizing law enforcement agency exclusively for the use of controlled
substances related law enforcement activity.
