For Meeting of: November 18, 2025 ITEM TITLE: 2025 Clean City 2nd & 3rd Quarter Statistics (General Fund) SUBMITTED BY: Scott Schafer, Public Works Director SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The Clean City Program was established as a quick response unit to address blight within the City of Yakima. Under the direction of Public Works, Clean City is a coordinated interdepartmental effort primarily involving Public Works, Codes, Legal and Police. The primary objectives of the Clean City Program are to: • Address visual blight (trash, graffiti, dangerous buildings, abandoned vehicles, etc.) • Perform necessary and unscheduled collection of waste and litter from the City's public rights-of- way • Expediate the clean-up of such illegal dumps • Clean up homeless encampments • Support Yakima Police Department officers in unlawful camping enforcement • Provide coordination with neighborhoods for annual clean-up events • Provide Public Outreach & Educational • Engage with community partners and volunteers Below is a summary of the accomplishments of both the 2nd and 3rd Quarters of 2025 (April - September): Graffiti Incidents Abated 2198 Shopping Carts Removed 281 Homeless Individuals Contacted 3056 Homeless Encampments Cleaned 16 Illegal Dump Sites 1526 Garbage Removed (Tons) 62.7 Tires Removed 630 Pressured-Washed Areas 6 Inoperable Vehicles 0 Dangerous Buildings 5 460 ITEM BUDGETED: Yes STRATEGIC PRIORITY 24-25: A Safe and Healthy Yakima RECOMMENDATION: ATTACHMENTS: 461
