BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
YAKIMA, WASHINGTON
AGENDA STATEMENT
Item No.
For Meeting of Nov. 21, 2006
ITEM TITLE: Consideration of a Resolution Declaring Certain Used Police Vehicles
Surplus and Authorizing the City Manager to allow the Washington
State Department of General Services Administration to Sell or Auction
these Vehicles.
SUBMITTED BY: Chief Granato, Police Department
CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: Capt. Jeff Schneider, 575-6151
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Police Department has four used vehicles, which are no longer fit for police service.
Several of these vehicles have bad engines and other major mechanical problems. All of
these vehicles are in poor condition. The Department requests that these vehicles be
declared surplus and removed from our inventory.
The Department also would like to allow the Washington State Department of General
Services Administration to sell or auction these vehicles for the City at their surplus
property facility in Kent. It has been the Police Department's experience that used vehicles
bring significantly higher sales and auction prices at the Kent facility than we receive
locally.
