ITEM TITLE: Council Nominating Committee recommendations regarding
appointments to boards, commissions, and committees

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Council Nominating Committee met on October 9, 2025 and made the following recommendation:
. Yakima Planning Commission - appoint Dr. Roy Gondo
ITEM BUDGETED:
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 24-25: An Engaged Yakima
RECOMMENDATION: Approve recommendations.

COUNCIL NOMINATING COMMITTEE MINUTES
City Manager's Conference Room and via Zoom
Thursday October 9, 2025
The meeting convened at 11:00 a.m.
Council present: Reedy Berg, Danny Herrera (via Zoom), and Leo Roy (as alternate)
Staff present: City Clerk Rosalinda Ibarra
Reedy Berg was selected as Chair of this meeting.
1. The Council Nominating Committee interviewed Angie Girard, Dr. Roy Gondo, and
Dr. Tanya Knickerbocker and made the following recommendation:
MOTION: Roy moved and Berg seconded to recommend Dr. Roy Gondo to the
Yakima Planning Commission. The motion carried unanimously.
The Nominating Committee was informed of current vacancies and upcoming term
expirations for positions on several boards and commissions. The Community Relations
office will issue a press release inviting members of the public who are interested in
serving on any open positions.
2. The meeting adjourned at 12:22 p.m.
