BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
YAKIMA, WASHINGTON
AGENDA STATEMENT
Item No. 7.G.
For Meeting of: October 7, 2025
ITEM TITLE: Resolution adopting the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC)
recommendation allocating $50,000.00 from Lodging Tax Fund
Reserves for the Washington State Main Street Tax Credit Incentive
Program (MSTCIP)
SUBMITTED BY: Craig Warner, Director of Finance and Budget
Gary Ballew, Assistant City Manager
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City of Yakima Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) held its regularly scheduled meeting on
September 9, 2025, to consider a previously reviewed application for Lodging Tax Grant funding. During
the publicly announced application period, which ran from May 13 through July 12, 2025, LTAC received
multiple applications and requested follow-up information on one specific request.
Following further review, LTAC voted to approve the City of Yakima's request for$50,000.00 to be
applied toward the City's portion of the Washington State Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program
(MSTCIP).
The Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program allows designated cities and local organizations to
leverage state tax credit contributions for downtown revitalization efforts. LTAC determined that
supporting the City's participation in MSTCIP aligns with tourism promotion objectives and community
economic development. The motion included language that the application is approved on a one-time
basis and that future applications would receive additional scrutiny.
The funding will be awarded as a one-time allocation and will be drawn from the Lodging Tax Fund
reserves.
