A RESOLUTION declaring an assortment of outdated radio equipment and parts
surplus and authorizing Its donation to the Yakima County Search
and Rescue for their use In their emergency communications
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns outdated radio equipment and parts with
no Immediate or foreseeable uses and Is surplus to the needs of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Yakima County Search and Rescue has requested this surplus
radio equipment and parts for use In their organization; and
WHEREAS, the Communications Division recommends that this outdated radio
equipment and parts be donated to the Yakima County Search and Rescue for use In
their organization; and
WHEREAS, the Yakima County Search and Rescue Is Interested In receiving this
surplus radio equipment and parts for use In their organizations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that It would be In the best Interest of the
City to donate the radio equipment and parts because It Is outdated and has no
monetary value now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned, outdated radio equipment
and parts has no monetary value and Is surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima, and
the City Manager Is. hereby authorized and directed, to donate said radio .equipment
and parts to the Yakima County Search and Rescue for use In their organization.

ITEM TITLE: Consideration of a Resolution declaring an assortment of radio
equipment and parts surplus and authorizing its donation to the
Yakima County Search and Rescue for use in their emergency
communications.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Electronics Division of the City has an assortment of outdated radio equipment and parts
that has no immediate or foreseeable value to the City and is surplus to the City. The Yakima
County Search and Rescue organization, which operates only with significant assistance
through donations, can use this equipment to maintain and it some cases upgrade the radios
they use to conduct their emergency communications during their operations.
Staff is requesting the City Council declare this equipment surplus to our needs and authorize
its transfer to the Yakima County Search and Rescue.
