HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-159 ORDINANCE NO.4 111 AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 1 and 2 of Ordinance No. B-224, entitled - "An Ordinance creating a Planning Com- mission for. the City of Yakima providing for the powers and duties of such Commission repealing Ordinance No A- 893 and declaring an emergency" as amended by Ordinance Nos. B - 1899 13 - 2081 and B 2272 and declaring an emergency® BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1, That section 1 of Ordinance No, B - 224 as amended by Ordinance Nos. B - 1899 3 - 2081 and B 2272 is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1. There is hereby created for the City of Yakima a City Planning Commission to consist of 9 members who shall be appointed by the City Council. In addition the City Engineer and a representative from Yakima School District No© 7 who shall be appointed by the City Council shall be ex officio members of said Commission but shall not be entitled to vote upon any issue before said Commission© Section 2. That Section 2 of Ordinance No B - 224 as amended by Ordinance No. B - 1899 is hereby amended to read as follows: Section g. The present terms of 8 members of said Planning Commission expire upon the following dates: One member --- August 16 1961 Five members -- July 9 1962 One meMber ---- August 16 1964 One member- August 16 1966 Al]. of said terms of office are hereby extended until the 31 day of August of the year in which they expire. All - 1 - members of the Planning Commission shall be appointed hereafter upon the following schedule: One member ---- September 1 1961 TWO members ---- September 1 162 One member September 1 1963 Two members --- September 1 1964 One member September l 1965 Two members September l 1966 and all of such terms shall be for a period of six years. At the expiration of existing terms of office of the 8 members hereinaleeve set forth appointments for such shorter terms as may be necessary shall be made in order to adjust to the schedule of terns herein set forth, The 9 member of the Planning Commission created by this ordinance shall be appointed forthwith for a term expiring on August 31 1966, Upon the adjustment of term of office as herein- above provided v all terms shall be for a period of 6 years or until a successor may be appointed, Any member of the Planning Commission shall be absent without being excusedWom 50 percent or more of the regular meetings of said Commission Ever any period of 6 months shall be deemed to have forfeited his office.? Upon the resignation removal or forfeiture of any such member the City Council shall appoint a successor to serve for the balance of the term, - 2- °, agIleja This ordinance is one to provide for the 411 immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health and safety of the people of the City of Yakima, and an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage 9 approval and publication as provided by law and the City Charter.
