A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the City Manager to accept donations of
certain real estate parcels and to purchase other real estate parcels,
all for the Sports Complex Project in the vicinity of Kiwanis Park.
WHEREAS, a Sports Complex has been proposed for construction in the vicinity
of Kiwanis Park; and
WHEREAS, certain private land owners wish to donate land to the City for the
Sports Complex Project; and
WHEREAS, certain other parcels of real estate need to be acquired for the Sports
Complex Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima finds that the acquisition of
property for the Sports Complex Project is in the best interests of the citizens of the City
of Yakima, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized and directed to
accept donations of the real estate parcels identified in the attached and incorporated
Exhibit A, and the City Manager is further authorized and directed to take all necessary
and prudent actions to acquire through voluntary purchase the real estate parcels
identified in the attached and incorporated Exhibit B, all for the Yakima Sports Complex
Project.

ITEM TITLE: Resolution Accepting Property Donations and Authorizing Acquisition
of Certain Parcels of Land for Future Park Development

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Attached is a resolution authorizing the City of Yakima to accept property donations and
acquire additional property with the ultimate intent of improving community recreational
opportunities at Kiwanis Park.
Exhibit "A" lists properties purchased by Yakima Rotary Trust, Kiwanis Trust, and Lions
Trust. These properties will be donated to the City of Yakima.
Exhibit "B" lists (1) properties already purchased by the service clubs for which they are
requesting reimbursement ($527,052.14) by the City, and (2) includes additional
properties that the City will need to acquire in the near future.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff respectfully recommends approval of the
attached resolution to accept donations of certain real estate parcels and to purchase
other real estate parcels as identified in this report.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: The Parks and Recreation
Commission, at their December 4, 2000 meeting, unanimously approved a motion to
recommend the Council support continued development plans for a significant regional
sports facility in the vicinity of Kiwanis Park.
