ITEM TITLE: National Health Center Week proclamation

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
At the July 1 City Council meeting, Councilmember Deccio motioned to place a National Health Center
Week proclamation on a future agenda. The motion was approved unanimously. Attached is the
proclamation for Council review. If approved, the proclamation will be read and presented to Rhonda
Hauff, Yakima Neighborhood Health Services, Angela Gonzalez, Community Health of Central
Washington, and Christy Trotter, Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic.

RECOMMENDATION: Read and present the proclamation.

are essential-pillars of our local hearth care system; and
Z9 HEcR EA5, these centers provide comprehensive, accessible, and high-quality care to aft
residents, expanding access through prevention, education, outreach, translation, and enabling
services that help manage costs and improve outcomes; and
WHEICEAS, National Community.Ifealth Center Weekis a time to cerebrate the vital-
rote of hearth centers in our communities, and to recognize (Yakima Neighborhood.Ifealth
Services for 50 years of excellence in service; and
'9 IEWS, (Yakima's community hearth centers are not only hearth care providers, but
also major employers and drivers of economic development throughout the region and
WHEICEAS, in collaboration with local agencies, these hearth centers have successfully
assisted many uninsured(Yakima residents in obtaining hearth coverage that fits their needs and
budgets; and
Z9�.LLEW5, more than 140,000 patients across the (Yakima valley received care from
these centers fast year, demonstrating their deep and lasting impact,
NOW, TiffRETOR, I, Patricia Byers, Mayor of the City of(Yakima and on behalf of
the (Yakima City Council, do hereby proclaim the weekofAugust 3-9, 2025 as
"NATION-AL gFEALTIf CENTER(WEEK"
in the City of(Yakima and encourage aft residents to recognize and support the many
contributions community hearth centers make as "The Roadmap to a Stronger America. "
