HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2000-038 Disposal of seized vehicles and surplus propertyRESOLUTION NO. R-2000 -38 A RESOLUTION authorizing the sale of surplus property owned by the City. WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns personal property listed on the schedule attached hereto, for which property is surplus property, for which property should be sold in the manner most advantageous to the City, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Manager of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized and directed to dispose of surplus personal property owned by the City listed on the schedule attached hereto by selling said property at a public auction sale at a time and place and in the manner determined by the City Manager to be most advantageous to the City; and the City Manager is further hereby authorized to hire services of an auctioneer and incur other necessary and reasonable expenses incidental to such sale, with the cost of such sale to be paid from the proceeds thereof. Rice, Assistant City Manager CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: Shawn Valdez, Buyer/575-6094 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: Request for authorization to dispose of the attached lists of seized vehicles and surplus property by public auction. Last year, the surplus property auction netted the City $47,346 and the City/County Narcotics Unit (CCNU) seized vehicle auctions netted $47,390. The auction will be held on Saturday, April 29th, at Heaverlo's Auctions. Purchasing is responsible for coordination of the auction and Department Directors are responsible for determining when an item has no foreseeable use to their operating divisions. Expenses incurred in this sale are paid for from the gross proceeds. The net proceeds are deposited with the Treasurer's Office and distributed as revenue to the appropriate funds.
