At 20 N. 2ND Street continuing North to A street are four Sweetgum. The Sweetgum have outgrown their planting sites, damaged during the snowstorm of three years ago, improperly pruned and have buckled the sidewalk. Mr. Mann has requested the trees be removed. The business owners will pay for replacement trees, with our recommendation of acceptable species. The four Sweetgum do not meet our level of criteria for which I can authorize removal. My recommendation is assistance with contacting the Street Division to have the sidewalks repaired. 20 N. 2nd Street • Sweetgum Trees on 2nd Street 26 N. 2 Street 26 N 2"Street ITEM TITLE: SUBMITTED BY: BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL YAKIMA, WASHINGTON AGENDA STATEMENT Item No. ( 0 For Meeting Of March 7, 2000 Resolution Authorizing Approval of Tree Removal Request: 20, 22, and 26 North 2nd Street Chris Waarvick, Director of Public Works Denise Nichols, Parks and Recreation Manager CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: Denise Nichols, 575-6020 Randy Murphy, City Arborist SUMMARY EXPLANATION: Staff respectfully requests Council approval of the attached Resolution requesting removal of four Liquidambar Sweetgum trees located at 20, 22 and 26 North 2nd Street.
