SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Yakima Valley Community College ("YVCC") desires to purchase a portion of Larson Park from
the City of Yakima ("City") for use as a building site for a new Higher Education Center. YVCC is
willing to pay the City a total of $2,500,000 for the property and the replacement of athletic
facilities located thereon. On September 30, 1998, the City Parks and Recreation Commission
recommended that the City Council authorize the property sale. On November 3, 1998, the City
Council considered and authorized the sale and directed staff to prepare the necessary documents.
After further discussions and negotiations, representatives of YVCC and the City have reached an
understanding on the specific language and terms of the property sale. This understanding is
reflected in the attached resolution and "Purchase and Sale Agreement." The attached resolution
authorizes execution of the Agreement and all other documents necessary to transfer the property
