We, the Moxee Police Department, are working with a limited budget and are unable to purchase a
new, "State Bid Vehicle". Through the past generosity of your agency, we have been able to satisfy our
vehicle needs by purchasing surplus vehicles. We are again in the need of a patrol vehicle and would like to
be afforded the opportunity to again purchase from your surplus pool. I spoke to Cpt. Schnieder earlier
today and was briefed on the vehicles that "may" be deemed surplus. I advised Cpt. Schnieder that we
would be interested in viewing the vehicles when they are made available for surplus.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Equipment Rental and Replacement Division currently has a used police vehicle which
is in excess of the City's needs. This car is to be sold at auction next fall.
The City of Moxee is requesting to purchase a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice for use by the
Moxee Police Department for the price of $2,000. This unit is Equipment #1237, License
#16333D. The price of $2,000 is a reasonable price for a surplus police vehicle with high
mileage.
Staff is requesting the City Council declare this unit as surplus to our needs and authorize
the sale of the vehicle to the City of Moxee for the price of $2,000, plus sales tax of $158
totaling $2,158.
