Item No. /b
For Meeting of 5/18/99
ITEM TITLE: Resolution establishing that the fare for shuttle bus service to
the 1999 4th of July celebration be by voluntary contribution
SUBMITTED BY: Chris Waarvick, Director of Public Works
CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: Bill Schultz, Transit Manager/575-6005
SUMMARY EXPLANATION: At the February 23, 1999, meeting of the Council
Transit Committee, the issue of whether or not to charge a fare for the shuttle bus
services for the annual 4th of July celebration at the County Fair Grounds was
again placed on the table for consideration. Since the beginning of these
Independence Day activities, shuttle bus services have been provided free to the
public. Beginning in 1996, a free will donation was requested. It was proposed and
approved to recommend to the City Council that the policy of providing the public
the opportunity to make a voluntary donation be continued in 1999. The attached
resolution was prepared for that purpose.
