A RESOLUTION authorizing the City Manager to execute and file a funding assistance
application for a Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program
("WWRP") project to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation ("IAC") as provided in Chapter 43.98A RCW, Washington
Wildlife and Recreation Program and all other applications,
agreements, amendments and documents. for the purpose of
acquiring land to expand Kiwanis Park.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima has approved a
comprehensive plan that includes this project area; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the WWRP, state and federal funding
assistance is requested to aid in financing the cost of land acquisition; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima considers it in the best public
interest to acquire land to expand Kiwanis Park to complete the acquisition project
described in the funding assistance application; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
1. That the City Manager of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized to
execute and file an formal application with the IAC for funding assistance;
and
2. That any fund assistance received be used for the implementation of the
project referenced above; and
3. That the City of Yakima certifies that its share of project funding is
committed and will be derived from a land donation by the Yakima
Kiwanis Trust; and
4. That the City of Yakima acknowledges that it is responsible for supporting
all non-cash commitments to the sponsor share should they not
materialize; and
5. That the City of Yakima acknowledges that any property acquired with
IAC financial aid must be placed in use as an outdoor recreation area and
be retained in such use in perpetuity unless otherwise provided and
agreed to by our organization, IAC and any affected federal agency; and
6. That this resolution becomes part of the formal application to IAC; and

7. That the City of Yakima provided appropriate opportunity for public
comment on this application:

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Attached is a Resolution authorizing the City of Yakima to apply for funding with the
Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC).
The Parks and Recreation Division is applying for acquisition of property to expand Kiwanis
Park to the south. The Kiwanis Trust has purchased 1.93 acres on the City's behalf and this
donation of land will be used as match for this grant application.
