HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-182 ORDINANCE NO /J 111 AN ORDINANCE amending Section 45 (a) of Ordinance No. B-1526 entitled W ORDINANCE relating to and regulating traffic, travel and transportation and their incidents upon the streets and other ways open to the public; prescribing the powers and duties of officers and others in relation thereto; defining offenses; providing penalties, and repealing Ordinance No. B-151 and all other amendments therefor and all other ordinances in so far as they are in conflict therewith," as amended, and declaring an emergency. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That Section 45 (a) of Ordinance No. B-1526 is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 45. Position for Turning© "(a) Any parson driving a motor vehicle upon a public highway and desiring to make a turn to the right shall reasonably and prudently drive euch vehicle as close as is practicable to the extreme right-hand edge of the.. roadway a reasonable distance before the point of making Ill the turn, and in turning shall keep as close as practic- able to the right-hand curb or edge of the street. Any person driving a vehicle upon a public highway and desiring to make a left-hand turn at an intersection shall reasonably and prudently drive such vehicle to , the extreme left hand side of that portion of the road- way lying to the right of the center of the highway a reasonable distance before making such left-hand turn; except on one-way streets, where left turns shall be made from the lane nearest the left curb. It shall be unlawful for any 'person to make or attempt to make any right-hand or left-hand turn until he has attained the proper relative driving position as aforesaid." Section 2. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare of the people of the City of Yakima, and an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this'ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter. -1- • PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 26th day of October, 1960 a a Mayor ATTEST: ( /' City �er • �2�
