Place: Council Chambers, City Hall, 129, N. 2nd St. Staff: Connor Kennedy, Associate Planner/ Historic Preservation Liaison I. Call to Order Meeting was called to order at approximately 5:30 P.M. II. Roll Call Commissioners Hall, Bussey, and Mann were present, with Commissioners Edmondson and King absent. III. Approval of Meeting Minutes from 04/24/2024, 5/22/2024 Meeting minutes were approved unanimously. IV. Staff Announcements None. V. Audience Participation None. VI. New Business Fruit Row Updates: i. Dahp Grant – pursue next year (closed 4/28/24). Due to the Grant closing, the commission will pursue the Dahp Grant next year. ii. Council Proclamation – pursue for early Sept. The commission will work on a proclamation to get in front of City Council, for harvest season and recognition of Fruit Row. iii. Blog Post for City Website – Harvest Season and Fruit Row The blog post is to celebrate the same things as the proclamation, but in a virtual setting. The commission discussed possibilities for what to propose when applying for the Dahp Grant. The commission discussed how murals can be an asset to the City and how they can benefit the community. The commission will be developing ideas for a proposal and will engage in discussions with building owners regarding potential mural placements. Finish Drafting Code – Associate Planner Kennedy, will continue to work on this draft. 2. Take Code updates through YPC – Once Kennedy has prepared a draft that is agreed upon by the entire commission, it will be presented to the Yakima Planning Commission. Following their feedback, it will then be submitted to the Yakima City Council. The commission discussed what the draft will be including. VIII. Other Business i. Places Main Street Conference: 1. Oct 16-18 2. Cost: $250 Per Ticket 3. Budget – There is not a budget for Historic Preservation. If a member would like to attend, they will have to pay out of pocket. The commission discussed possibilities of having Associate Planner Kennedy attend the conference on the behalf of the commission. IX. Adjournment A motion to adjourn to August 21, 2024 was passed with a unanimous vote. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:55 P.M.
