For Meeting of: April 1, 2025 ITEM TITLE: Draft Proclamation for National Day of Prayer SUBMITTED BY: Vicki Baker, City Manager SUMMARY EXPLANATION: Attached is a draft National Day of Prayer proclamation for Council consideration. If approved, the proclamation will be read and presented at the April 15th, 2025 business meeting. ITEM BUDGETED: N/A STRATEGIC PRIORITY 24-25: RECOMMENDATION: ATTACHMENTS: National_Day_of Prayer_2025 6 CITY OF TAKI M) P tO CLJ II DTION wRIEKE.f7,S, on April 17, 1952, the Congress of the united States approved the Joint resolution to provide for setting aside an appropriate day as a National Day of Prayer(Public Law 82-324;66 Stat. 64); and WHEUAS, the history of our nation is indelibly marked with the role that prayer has played in the lives of individuals and the nation; and WHEKEAS, historically, our greatest leaders have turned to prayer in times of crisis and thanksgiving; and WHEKEAS, the virtues of prayer reflect a common bond hopes and aspirations, sorrows and fears, remorse and renewed resolve, thanks and joyful praise, and love; and ti' HEKEAS, Way 1, 2025 has been deemed by Congress as the National-Day of Prayer, when allAmericans are to pray, in their own religious way,for the leaders of our nation, NOW,, Ti E FOE, I, Patricia Byers, Mayor of the City of Yakima and on behalf of the Yakima City Council do hereby proclaim Way 1, 2025 as °NATION-AL DA OT RATER" in the City of Yakima, in keeping with the wishes of the Congress of the `united States, I urge all citizens to join me in this special observance.
