Home My WebLink About12-11-2024 YPC MinutesCity of Yakima Planning Commission (YPC) Meeting Minutes December 11, 2024 Call to Order Chair Place called the meeting to order at 3:03 p.m. Roll Call YPC Members Present: YPC Members Absent: Staff Present: City Council Liaison: Chair Mary Place, Vice -Chair Anne Knapp, Jeff Baker, Charles Hitchcock, Leanne Hughes -Mickel, Frieda Stephens, Shelley White Colleda Monick, Kevin Rangel, Arthur Salido, Philip Ostriem, (all excused) Trevor Martin; Planning Manager, Connor Kennedy; Associate Planner, Eva Rivera; Planning Technician Rick Glenn Chair Place welcomed members of the City of Yakima Historic Preservation Commission Information and Training Session — Yakima Valley Conference of Governments (YVCOG) — Planning Manager Martin introduced Byron Gumz, YVCOG Regional Land Use Manager, who provided a brief overview of his planning background. Gumz then delivered a PowerPoint presentation covering the role of the Planning Commission within the city, the Growth Management Act. the City of Yakima Municipal Code, and the various types of hearings. He also addressed questions from the commissioners. Staff Announcements — Planning Manager Martin acknowledged the Historic Preservation Commission, whose members introduced themselves and provided a brief overview of the commission's role and activities. Approval of Minutes from October 23, 2024 - It was motioned by Commissioner Hitchcock and seconded by Commissioner Baker to approve the meeting minutes of October 23, 2024, as presented. The motion carried unanimously. Action Items: l Item Assigned Status Update YPC Bylaws Trevor Martin In Progress Public Comment — None Other Business — Commissioner White distributed a handout of the public draft on unit lot subdivisions. The commission engaged in a discussion, which included strategies for presenting these topics in the future.
