HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-212 ORDINANCE NO, 212 AN ORDINANCE accepting the recommendation of the Planning Commission and rezoning certain property, located in the vicinity of Lenox and Ledwich Avenues in the City of Yakima a WaAl- ington, and declaring'an emergency. WHEREAS, on the 15t1' day of February, 1961, at a regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council, a hearing was had upon the recommendation of Planning Commission that certain specified property in the City of Yakima, Washington, to-wit: Lots 23 and 24 of Block 1; and Lots 1, 2 3 4, 5 and 6 of Block 2; all in Terminal Addition, be rezoned from R-2, Two-Family Dwelling, to M-2, Heavy Industrial • and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such recommendation of the • Planning Commission for such rezoning should be approved for the fol- lowing reasons, to-wit: That such rezoning is in accord with good planning and with the Comprehensive Plan of the City of Yakima; that the majority of property owners in the vicinity do not oppose the change in classification; that the needs of the City and community do require such change,and that the highest and best use is for Heavy Industrial purposes now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section "1® The recommendatiOn of the Planning Commission of the City of Yakima that the following described real property located in the vicinity of Lenox and Ledwich Avenues in the City of Yakita, Wash- ington, and more particularly described as follows, to-wit: .Lots 23 and 24 of Block 1; and Lots 1, 2,,3, 4,- 5 and 6 of Block 2; all in Terminal Addition be rezoned from R-2 Two-Family Dwelling, to M-.2, Heavy Industrial, be,, -1- 40 and the same is hereby approved, and said real property is hereby rezoned to M-2, Heavy Industrial Zone. Section 2. The above change in zoning shall be included and depicted on the next regularly amended Use District Map prepared by • and for the said City. Section 3, The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to file with the Yakima County Auditor a certified copy of this ordinance. Section 4. This ordinance is necessary for the immediate pres- ervation of the public peace, welfare and safety of the people of the City of Yakima, and an emergency is therefore declared to exist, and this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage approval and publication in the manner provided by law. • PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 15th day of February, 1961.
