AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 194 entitled, "AN ORDINANCE es-
11, tablishing classification and compensation plan for all
employees of the City of Yakima, except Firemen and
Policemen, and repealing Ordinance No 79 and all reso-
lutions, ordinancesor parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith," by adding thereto a new section designatA
Section 9-B, and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That Ordinance No 194 is hereby amend-d by adding
thereto a new section designated as Section 9-B, to read as follows,
to-wit:
"Section 9-B, All officers and employees shall in addition
to their prescribed rates of pay be reimbursed for the fol-
lowing listed expenditures made on trips away from the City
on official business, to-wit:
10 Transportation. The actual fare shall be paid, if
by common carrier. If private car is usld, by prior
authorization, eight cents (8 ¢) per mile shall be
paid for actual. mileage.
• 2. Hotel Rooms. The actual rate shall be paid, but not
in excess $7.00 per day, except when authorized
attendance at a convention makes a greater rate
necessary.
3. Meals. The actual expenditure shall be paid, but not
in excess of $5.00 per day, except when convention
rates make an excess necessary.
4, Per Diem. When it is necessary to be away from the
City overnight, the City Manager may authorize re-
imbursement on a per diem basis in the amount of
$12.00 per day, computed at the rate of fifty cent
(500 per hour for periods less than 24 hours in
any calendar day. When authorized this payment
shall be in lieu of accounting for individual items
of expenditures under Sub-Sections 2 and 3 above.
5. Necessa minor ex4enses. The actual amount expended

All expenditures reported must be necessary, reasonable and
incurred in the conduct of the business of the City. When two
or more representatives of the City attend the same meeting,
transportation shall be planned to avoid needless duplication
• of automobiles. Employees shall obtain approval prior to taking
any trip from their Department Head and from the City Manager.
All trips to be made outside of the State of Washington shall
be subject to approval by the City Council."
Section 2. This ordinance is one to provide for t immediate
41 1 preservation of the public peace, property, health and safety of the
people of the City of Yakima, and an emergency is hereby declared to
exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately
upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and the
City Charter
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 23rd day of
February, 1961.
